Marketplace Deep Dive

How much does Roblox take from UGC sales?

Roblox takes 30% of the sale price as a platform fee. The remaining 70% is split between you (creator royalty) and any affiliate commissions.

What about affiliate sales?

If your item is sold in a game (like 'Catalog Avatar Creator'), the game owner gets a 40% commission, which comes out of the platform's cut, not yours.

Do limiteds have a holding period?

Yes. When you buy a Limited UGC item, you must wait 30 days before you can resell it. This holding period prevents instant flipping and market manipulation.

How much does it cost to upload?

Uploading a standard accessory typically costs 750 Robux. This fee is taken upfront. For Limiteds, you also pay a per-unit fee based on the quantity you stock.

Do I get the 750 Robux back?

Yes! Once your item sells enough copies to cover the upload fee, Roblox rebates the 750 Robux deposit. This encourages creators to make high-quality items that actually sell.

Can I sell free items?

Yes, you can list items for free (0 Robux), but you will not earn any revenue, and you will not get your upload deposit back. This is mostly used for promotional items.
